'If I get to see you smile like that then I'm going
to take you to parties more often. There's always parties going on
off campus.' His green eyes suddenly light up as he comes up with an
idea. 'How about I take you to twenty one parties. . . one for every
year of your life so far. . .'
'Would that even be possible?' she asks him with a
soft laugh as they break apart.
'Hmm. . . okay, maybe twenty one is far too many,' he
admits. 'Plus you're not a big fan of parties, are you?'
'Not really,' she admits with an awkward smile.
'Could they be dates instead?'
The moment she asks this she instantly regrets it and
feels her whole face flush. His amazed reaction doesn't help either.
'I – I don't mean twenty one dates,' she quickly stutters. 'I – I
just meant one.' Her gaze drops down to her clasped hands. 'I've
never been on a date before, you see,' she admits in a small voice
while looking down at her feet, realising how silly she sounds.
There's a long pause before he finally speaks.
'Look at me, Iris,'
She slowly lifts her head to meet his green eyes.
'Is that something you would enjoy?'
She nods.
'Then sure. . . let's go on a date,' he tells her
with a bright smile.
